My return to blogging, and why I left substack
Dec 03, 2025
Hey babe! So happy to have you here in this cozy new space I've created for us!
I made some big decisions while I was staying out on the flower farm in Southern Oregon this past summer/fall.
I decided to consolidate my online presence to make it easier since I have some big changes coming in my life and I won't have as much time as I used to to dedicate to it.
Substack has been fun but I found it to be just another thing to do, another place to log into, and it wasn't really exciting me anymore.
See I used to be a big time blogger, back in 2006-2015. It was really fun, but after blogging almost daily for so many years I got burnt out.
I switched up my content delivery to my digital magazine in 2010. I evolved it a few times over the years.
Then that got boring.
Then, Youtube was the coolest thing. I had so much fun uploading tutorials and vlogs there.
See, in 2011, I found instagram. That was so much fun and once I tapped into youtube in about 2013, I started to get super into sharing my content there to send people to my channel. That felt like a micro blog and it was so much easier to upload and update as it was via my phone.
I was also writing a weekly newsletter at that point and i put all my writing energy into that.
I got back into blogging in 2015, as I was using it to share my weekly moon phase updates, what I called THE MOON REPORT, via my blog, The Moon Sisterhood. Then I'd send the link out via my newsletter.
That was fun, but then in 2019, I knew I needed to change things up.
I started a podcast and started sharing about human design and how to become your higher self.
Blogging just felt tedious at this point. I felt like no one had time to read a blog. No one even seemed interested, everyone was so into short form video and listening to podcasts.
So I just stopped blogging for the most part. Occasionally I'd try to come back but it just felt like a chore. And as a generator in human design, I gotta be excited about something or it just won't be sustainable for me.
I kept up my newsletter for the most part, but had to take breaks because now I was burnt out on that too.
In 2023, I found substack and started writing there, sharing my more personal thoughts and opinions, it felt like a safe place, where Instagram was becoming so crazy with people getting cancelled just for sharing their controversial opinions. Which i have quite a few of. haha
I kept it private and just invited a few people that I knew were into that kinda thing to read it.
Then in 2024 I decided to make it public to read.
I had spent a few years on a year long project that charted the solar transits in human design.
I had been delivering it via newsletter and instagram at that point.
Substack seemed like a great place to put it though, as it was starting to become largely known for writing, and tons of people were jumping on board so I figured I'd discover a whole new audience there.
So i started writing there. It felt like a breath of fresh air.
PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANTED TO READ FOUND MY WORK
Which felt so amazing.
I love writing.
I love talking and sharing my thoughts that way too, but writing, man it just feels sooooo gooooood.
I also love reading more that I love listening, so it was a fun place to be to discover new writers too.
But then they started expanding it to include video, and lives, and podcasts, and then all the sudden it just felt like it lost something for me.
It felt like instagram to me. Which don't get me wrong I love IG, but who really reads anything on there if it's longer than a blurb over an image???
It has it's place but mama, I wanna WRITE!
So here I am, I set up a new website last year, and my blog was still set dormant and unpublished for the most part.
I didn't even set up a cute design or format posts or anything. So unlike me, right??
So I recently sat down and spent a whole day creating a beautiful blogging space to share my writing.
It's easy to log into, easy to share from, and hopefully attracts new readers via SEO.
I'll mostly be sharing on human design solar transits, vibrational medicine, and reiki, and how I'm using them to become the most expansive versions of MYself.
The educational part of all of all this will be inside the portal membership, WHICH YOU CAN JOIN HERE, this blog series will be more about my personal experiences. What I'm feeling, what's coming up for me, how I'm working through it all.
But, you know me, I have so many interests, so I will also be including many topics such as:
yoga, somatic movement, natural lifestyle stuff, healthy foods, herbal tea recipes, herbal skincare, rituals, lunar events, energy reports, my trips off grid, retreats, online business ownership, random trailblazer things, and more...
I am not even going to try to set up a regular blog post schedule, I will just write and then send out updates when I publish something.
That feels good, and free, and EXCITING!
This 4/6 generator needs that to be sustainable.
Sooooo, if you are into it, I invite you to sign up for email updates.
That way you won't miss anything when I publish it.
I'm excited to share more with you soon.
